WNBA players are paying their respects to Brittney Griner.
On Thursday afternoon, WNBA star Brittney Griner was sentenced to 9 years in prison after she was allegedly carrying vape pens filled with hashish oil through a Russian airport.
Brittney Griner has been convicted and sentenced to 9 years in prison for bringing into Russia two cartridges of cannabis oil. Russia is not our friend. It is a hostile foreign adversary preying on an innocent person as a political pawn as trade bait for a prisoner exchange.

After being convicted Griner told the Russian court “I never meant to hurt anybody to put in jeopardy the Russian population or violate any Russian laws. I made an honest mistake and I hope that your ruling, that it doesn’t end my life here,” while apologizing to her family, her teammates, her fans, and the Russian people.
The Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun took a 42-second moment of silence for Brittney Griner following her sentencing on Thursday.
