Buffalo Bills Reached Out To Marquette King After Cutting Matt Araiza Over Rape Allegations

Former All-Pro punter Marquette King asked the Buffalo Bills to give him a call, and it appears that there may be mutual interest.

Last week, the Bills starting punter was accused in a civil lawsuit of gang-raping a minor with two other men while at San Diego State last year.

A civil lawsuit filed Thursday in state court accuses three San Diego State University football players — including a top punter now in the NFL — of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl last year at an off-campus party.

Matt Araiza, 22, whose powerful and precision kicking in college earned him the moniker “Punt God,” was accused of having sex with the minor outside the home and then bringing her inside to a room where she was repeatedly raped. The lawsuit, filed in San Diego County Superior Court, alleges the then-high school senior went in and out of consciousness but remembers moments as the men took turns assaulting her.

The other men named in the complaint are Zavier Leonard and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko. Leonard is listed on the university’s fall football roster as a redshirt freshman. Ewaliko was on the team last year as a freshman but is not on the current roster

Two days after the lawsuit was filed the Bills decided to quit ties with Araiza while facing backlash on social media.

King, who last played professional football in the XFL, told the Bills that he was available if needed.

I got a bunch of sky miles I haven’t used yet let me know so I can throw some clothes in the washer today…

While King hasn’t been brought in for an official visit by the team, the Bills did reach out to ask King if he was in playing shape.

Marquette King was not among the punters who were brought in on Sunday, but the veteran has heard from the team. A source tells me that Buffalo reached out to King to see if he was in playing shape.
