Stanford running back EJ Smith, son of all-time NFL great and former Dallas Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith, is off to a hot start this college football season.
The junior running back is playing in first season as the team’s full-time starter, and in his first game, Smith impressed fans watching at home.
In his first carry of the season, EJ was able to bust through Colgate’s defense and took off for an 87-yard TD run.
E.J. finished his first game as Stanford’s starting running back with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. EJ also picked up five catches for 37 yards in Stanford’s 41-10 win vs Colgate.
EJ spoke about his first game as the team’s starting running back “It’s a great opportunity,” There’s been great running backs here in the past. Bryce, Christian and so forth. To be able to have that opportunity is a blessing.”
We’re sure Smith’s dad is proud.
