Josh McDaniels is speaking out after his bizarre field goal decision at the end of the Steelers-Raiders was criticized by fans.
In the fourth quarter, McDaniels decided to kick a field goal on 4th down inside the 10 yard line down by 8 points with 2:20 to go in the game.

The Raiders went on to lose the game to the Steelers and McDaniels tried to justify his decision in his postgame press conference.

“So, it is not a lack of confidence. . . . I don’t know, I mean, we kicked one earlier in that sequence . . . and then we’re fortunate enough to get a penalty on that field goal and then got down there. I mean, it is what it is. Like I said, you can go either way with those, and I did have confidence that we were playing well enough defensively and would have an opportunity to maybe get the ball back with two minutes to go and have an opportunity to go down there and take the lead.”
