Ray Ruschel graduated from high school 30 years ago in 1992, but he’s set to play his freshman year of college in 2022.
The 49-year-old is going viral after he decided to play for the North Dakota State Colleges of Science football team in Wahpeton making him the second oldest college football player in NCAA history.
Ruschel, an active-duty North Dakota Army National Guard member, is having a blast with the team.
“I want to live life,” he said. “If I had the chance and didn’t take it, I would regret it. I had a chance, and I’m taking it, and I’m living life to the fullest.”
“I’m having a blast playing. Out here with these young kids and actually being able to keep up! I surprise myself,” Ruschel said.
