Brittney Griner’s Cherelle is speaking out.
During an interview with CBS Mornings, Cherelle says she feels like she’s living in a movie and believes Brittney is a “hostage” in Russia.
“It’s like a movie for me,” Cherelle Griner said. “In no world, did I ever (think) that our president and a foreign nation president would be sitting down having to discuss the freedom of my wife.”
“So to me as much as everyone is telling me a different definition of what BG is, it feels to me as if she’s a hostage,” she added.
Cherelle Griner says she is “terrified” about the fate of her wife, Brittney Griner, who was sentenced to nine years in Russian prison: “It feels to me as if she’s a hostage.”

Last month Cherelle revealed that she felt Griner was “losing it” while in Russian prison.
Cherelle has been exchanging letters from BG during her imprisonment in Russia. But recently those letters have taken a dark turn. “She’s not well,” Cherelle told me. "She’s losing it.”

Last month Cherelle Griner met with the Biden administration and felt she had a good meeting.
Cherelle Griner told me she had a good meeting with Biden. He gave her more confidence in the admin’s efforts to bring Brittney Griner home. “It allowed me to have confidence in what he’s doing right now."

Cherelle also says she felt that the US didn’t know what Russia wanted in exchange for Brittney during their negotiations.
Cherelle’s sense after meeting with Biden was that negotiations have been very complex but that Biden is determined to get a deal done:
"I don’t think they have quite figured out exactly what Russia wants in return for BG.”
