We may finally know Deshaun Watson’s outcome fairly soon.
According to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, the NFLPA and NFL are actively in talks over a settlement in the Watson suspension case.
NFL and NFL Players Association are conducting active settlement negotiations in the Deshaun Watson disciplinary matter, per league sources. Whether compromise will be reached before designee Peter C. Harvey rules on appeal remains unclear w/ some optimism expressed by sources
ESPN’s Dan Graziano is saying that Watson’s camp believes a decision could come in the next day or two.
Sources close to the Deshaun Watson situation believe a resolution could come today or tomorrow. Recent talks between NFL and Watson’s reps have heightened hope that they can reach a settlement without Peter C. Harvey having to rule, but it’s unclear how much longer he will wait.
It had been reported previously that Watson offered a settlement of 8 game-suspension and a $5 million fine but was rebuffed by the NFL.
I’m told Deshaun Watson would accept an 8-game suspension and $5 million fine in a settlement. Of course, league wants at least 17 games, significant fine over $5 million & evaluation for treatment. So this would be a significant compromise. But it would end it.
