Former NFL Player Believes Jon Gruden Should Get A Second Chance, Doesn’t Think He’s A Racist

Jon Gruden is asking for a second chance and one former NFL player believes he should get one.

Last week, Gruden said he was hoping to get another shot after his racist, homophobic emails were leaked to the media a year ago.

“I’m not going to say anything but honest things here,” Gruden said. “I’m ashamed about what has come about in these emails, Gruden said And I’ll make no excuses for it. It’s shameful. But, I am a good person. I believe that. I go to church. I’ve been married for 31 years. I’ve got three great boys. I still love football. I’ve made some mistakes, but I don’t think anybody in here hasn’t. And I just ask for forgiveness, and hopefully I get another shot.”

Former All-Pro wide receiver Andre Rison was interviewed by TMZ Sports and he believes Gruden should get a second shot because the former Raiders head coach has asked for forgiveness.

“No one is God,” Rison told TMZ Sports. “For some reason in today’s time, everybody think they’re God now because social media and whatever other platforms that they can voice their opinions. God gave him the gift to coach and it’s up to him and God if he repents, and forgives for his negatives and his faults and his defaults, I have no problem with it.”

Rison played for Gruden 20 years ago and doesn’t believe his former coach is a racist.

“For him to be a racist, if he was a racist, he darn sure gave a lot of black athletes chances and opportunities to put food on the table for their families,” Rison said.

Gruden is currently suing the NFL over the leaked emails claiming he was targetted by the league.
