Jets’ Mekhi Becton May Be Out For The Season As Knee Injury ‘Appears More Serious Than Expected’

The Jets are reportedly concerned about Mekhi Becton’s knee injury.

On Monday, Becton limped out of practice with an apparent knee injury.

Becton appeared to hurt the knee in an early offensive-line drill Monday morning. He limped around, but stayed in practice. A few minutes later, on the second play of an 11-on-11 period, Becton fell backward after being jolted by defensive end John Franklin-Myers. His right foot seemed to get caught in the grass, perhaps causing his knee to bend awkwardly.

Becton removed his shoulder pads and limped immediately to the locker room with members of the training staff.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that Becton’s knee injury appeared more serious than expected.

OT Mekhi Becton left practice after suffering a knee injury. HC Robert Saleh told reporters that Becton is undergoing an MRI exam but it appears that Becton’s knee is stable. Rapoport and Garafolo reported later Monday evening that after initial evaluations, Becton’s knee injury appears to be more serious than expected. They said the injury is new and unrelated to his previous injury, and that while the tackle will have additional appointments on Tuesday to learn more, there is now concern over the injury.

NFL insider Jordan Schulz is now reporting that Becton may be out for the season.
