Jimmy G Admits He’s Not In Game Shape, Has To Get On Same Page With Offense ‘It Was My First Week With These Guys’

Jimmy Garoppolo is opening up about the team’s lackluster second half against the Broncos on Sunday night.

According to Jimmy G, his arm ran out of gas in the second half because he’s not in game shape after having not done much in training camp while recovering from injury.

“My arm’s feeling it right now,” Garoppolo said. “It’s different. You try to do all the practicing and preparation you can on the sideline being the number two, then when you get tossed into it — I didn’t go through OTAs and training camp.

“I’m not trying to make excuses or anything, but I’ve just got to get in game shape and get rolling now.”

Garoppolo also said he felt out of rhythm with the offense and needs to reacclimate with them.

“It was my first week with these guys, we’ve got to get in a rhythm. Re-acclimation period…… We had a good rhythm last year. We just have to get back to that. We’ll get there.”

“We weren’t in a rhythm at all in the second half,” Garoppolo said. “You could feel it, you could see it. We were talking about it on the sideline. Just thinking about it, it was my kind of first week with these guys.

Garoppolo is confident that he can get back into the same rhythm he had with the offense that he did last year.

“We had a good rhythm last year,” Garoppolo said. “You could see it on the field and you could feel it on the sideline I think. We’ve just got to get back to that though. We’re capable of that and we’ll get there.”

It’s still early in the season; Jimmy and Kyle Shanahan have plenty of time to figure things out.
