Kamaru Usman Says Conor McGregor’s Time As A Champion Is ‘Done’

UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman thinks Conor McGregor’s window to become a UFC champion again has closed.

During the latest episode of ‘I AM Athlete”, Usman says he thinks Conor will never compete for another championship because he doesn’t have the hunger to become a champion now that he’s rich.

“He’s not necessarily done, but he’s done as a champion,” U “This is my perspective, because when I fight guys, I study their hearts. When I watch fights, I watch their heart and for me, he’s done. He’s done, because I don’t know whether the goal was to get the money.

“I don’t know if that’s what it was, because there’s a story about him: He was broke. For me, it seemed like it was about not being broke, getting money. So I understand that. Now he’s not broke. But how are you gonna be champion, because that’s what drove you to become champion, because you didn’t want to be broke? Now you’re not broke anymore.”

McGregor has gone 1-3 in the UFC since losing both his belts in 2018. McGregor is still the company’s highest profile fighter and has asked for a title fight against either Usman or Charles Oliviera in recent months.

While McGregor announced that he would star in the upcoming ‘Road House’ movie, UFC President Dana White has implied he won’t be ready to fight again until next year.
