LA Rams Were Reportedly Interested In Jimmy Garoppolo

The LA Rams were reportedly eyeing Jimmy Garoppolo if the Niners ended up releasing him in the offseason.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams were considering making Jimmy G Matthew Stafford’s backup

Had the San Francisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo been unable to agree to a restructured contract this summer, the rival Los Angeles Rams were lurking as a possible destination for the veteran quarterback, league sources told ESPN.

“It was going to be such a Rams move to make,” a member of the 49ers organization told ESPN. “Sean McVay and Kevin Demoff would have been basking in it.”

It makes sense that the Rams would be interested in Jimmy G as a backup for Stafford considering there were several questions about the seriousness of Stafford’s elbow injury coming into the season.

According to various reports Stafford has been dealing with a lingering elbow injury for over a year and ended up getting surgery for it during the offseason.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Rams revisit signing Jimmy G when he becomes a free agent after this season.
