Bucs’ Mike Evans would have lost a ton of money this week if he hadn’t signed a new contract.
In the offseason, Evans restructured his contract to get paid in bonuses rather than in base salary to help the Bucs out with the salary cap.
Bucs are again restructuring receiver Mike Evans’ contract to free up additional cap space. Some of his $14 million base salary for 2022 converted to bonus as they work to re-sign more of his teammates. He’s done this several times on his current deal already.

Earlier this week the NFl announced they were suspending Evans for one game for shoving Saints DB Marshon Lattimore on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Evans’ appeal of his suspension was upheld which means he’s going to lose this week’s paycheck while he’s forced to sit out a game.
The NFL upheld Mike Evans’ one-game suspension for hitting Saints’ CB Marshon Lattimore. Evans is now officially out for Sunday’s game vs. the Green Bay Packers.

Evans will only lose out on $62,222 for his one-game suspension as opposed to $712,000 if he hadn’t restructured his contract in the offseason.
Bucs WR Mike Evans restructured his contract during the off-season, which lowered his 2022 base salary to a league-minimum $1.12 million.
This means that this week’s one-game suspension now will cost Evans $62,222 rather than the $715,000 it would have if he hadn’t restructured.
