Myles Garrett’s relationship with Baker Mayfield ended on an awkward note.
During a recent interview with Cleveland.com, Garrett revealed that Baker sent him a heartfelt text after he got traded away to the Panthers in the offseason.
“He said he appreciated the time we got to spend together and getting to know each other and growing together,” Garrett told Cleveland.com.
Garrett said he ignored Baker’s text and left him on read because he didn’t know how to respond.
“I really, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t really have much to say and I didn’t know how reply to it. So I didn’t.”
Garrett made sure to say that he has no hard feelings toward Baker even though they had their disagreements, but he felt awkward about the whole thing.
“I read (the text from Mayfield) but you know, there were some disagreements we had at a base level,” Garrett added.”And I’m not mad at the guy or feeling any way towards it. But, I just didn’t know how to reply to that, so I didn’t.”
The Browns play the Panthers on Sunday in a game that will be filled with plenty of drama. Last week a reporter claimed Mayfield had told her that he was going to “f up” the Browns, which he has since denied. Garrett has already said that he’s going to use Mayfield’s alleged comment as motivation during their game.
