Richard Sherman Doesn’t Think Russell Wilson Gets As Much Respect Or Power As Other Star QBs

Richard Sherman continued to criticize Russell Wilson after the Broncos’ loss to the Seahawks.

At the end of the Broncos-Seahawks game, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett allowed time to run off the clock while having three timeouts to kick a 64-yard field goal on 4th and 5 instead of giving Wilson the opportunity to pick up a first down.

Peyton Manning seemed confused as to why Wilson didn’t call a timeout on the field at the time.

On his podcast ‘The Richard Sherman show”, Sherman talked about how Wilson doesn’t have the power of a Peyton Manning to call a timeout in that situation.

“You could see Peyton Manning saying ‘timeout, timeout.’ You know the difference between Russell Wilson and Peyton Manning?” he said. “Russell does not have the power to call that timeout without the sideline. Peyton Manning can call that timeout without the sideline. He’s the coach on the field. He has that respect.”

Sherman went on to say that Manning, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes and other QBs with more respect would have had the “power” to call a timeout as the clock ticked down from over a minute left to 20 seconds.

“Certain quarterbacks, you blame the coach,” Sherman continued. “Certain quarterbacks, you blame the quarterback. And if it was any of those quarterbacks, you’re not talking about the coach. You’re being like, ‘Why didn’t Peyton call timeout right there?’”

Days after the game, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett now believes he made a mistake by not giving Wilson a chance to get the first down.
