Russell Wilson Releases First Statement After Getting Benched By Broncos

Russell Wilson has finally broken his silence after getting benched.

On Wednesday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced that he was benching Wilson.

“And sure, in our game today, there are economics and all those other things. But the number one, push behind this in, it’s a decision I’m making is to, you know, get a spark offensively.”

Hours after getting benched, Wilson posted a message on social media.

According to the Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Wilson expects the Broncos to cut him before his $37 million injury guarantees coming into effect.

“Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources. For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.”
