Could former Saints head coach Sean Payton become the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers?
On Monday, the Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule after a disappointing 1-4 start to the season.

During an appearance on the Colin Cowherd show on Monday, Payton called the Panthers’ job “attractive.”
“I think it’s attractive … It’s almost a unicorn—the open job with a great QB, waiting for you to come in and be the foster parent,” he said. “Usually, generally speaking, it’s somewhat broken.”

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers will have Payton at the top of their list, but the Saints still have the rights to Payton until 2024 and are unlikely to allow him to coach without compensation.
Sean Payton will likely be at the top of this list, just like he is going to be at the top of every list. But hard to imagine any world in which the #Saints — who have his rights until 2024 — would be cool sending Payton to a division rival. https://t.co/6A7QZN3IG1

Carolina would have to pay the price to keep him in the division. As they say, everything has a price. https://t.co/a5zC3dcjGs
