Two NL Teams Named Potential Destinations For Shohei Ohtani

There are two National League teams being linked to Shohei Ohtani.

The Angels listened to trade talks during the season but were unable to get the reigning AL MVP traded before the trade deadline.

The Athletic’s Jayson Stark spoke to several front office executives around the league about Ohtani’s potential landing spot and one executive believes the superstar will stay in the west coast.

“My first instinct is to say Dodgers or Giants,” the unnamed executive told Stark. “But I actually don’t think he would go to the Dodgers just because it would look like he’s sticking it to the Angels. I could see him going to Seattle. But West Coast. That’s my guess.”

Trading for Ohtani will not be cheap. According to Ken Rosenthal, officials interested in Ohtani say the Angels wanted “six high-end players in return.

“Officials from two clubs interested in trading for Shohei Ohtani were left with the impression that to start the discussion they needed to offer six high-end players, and in the end probably more. A few teams threw out names, even though the Angels made it clear that owner Arte Moreno was resistant to moving Ohtani, making a deal all but impossible.”
