Trey Lance took the blame for the 49ers’ loss against the Bears on Sunday.
During the game, Lance completed 13 of his 28 attempts for 164 yards with an interception in a losing effort.
While speaking to the media, Lance regretted missing Tyler Kroft in a crucial play for a touchdown.
“Made too many mistakes,” Lance said on Sunday. “Defense kept us in the game. Had a big miss to Tyler Kroft in the end zone. Tried to throw a perfect ball. Should have put it right on him. He was wide open.
Lance went on to talk about other things he could have done better in the game.
“Turned the ball over. Took a sack that knocked us out of field goal range. Missed Deebo [Samuel] on third down. Missed another third down to Jauan [Jennings]. Just too many mistakes. A lot of stuff to clean up for sure.”
“I made too many mistakes. The defense kept us in the game.”

It’s still early in the season and Lance has plenty of things to fix in the game but it’s good to see that he understands what mistakes he made in the game.
Lance will have another chance to get his first win of the season when the Niners travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in week 2.
