49ers fans worst fears have come true.
On Sunday, QB Trey Lance was carted off the field with a leg injury in the first quarter of the team’s home opener against the Seahawks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lance suffered a significant ankle injury that will require surgery which likely ends Lance’s season.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio also provided an update on Lance’s condition.
Per source, Trey Lance is expected to have surgery this week to repair the fracture in the lower leg. He is indeed likely to miss the rest of the season. It's not 100 percent certain, but it's likely.
